The Okanagan Chapter of the ACBS was established in 1989 and is one of 3 chapters
in Canada representing the interests of 100+ members of the ACBS. Currently there are fifty-five local ACBS chapters spread across the United States and Canada. An ACBS member typically belongs to a chapter in his area and then may also belong to a secondary chapter in an area he / she likes to visit.
Chapters are where it happens all year long! Boat shows, rendezvous, cruises, restoration clinics, social events and just plain fun.
ACBS promotes an International boat show in conjunction with an annual meeting and local chapter sponsored events. Every other year, a restoration symposium is organized presenting seminars headed-up by noted experts in the areas of antique and classic boat history, restoration, and new technology as it relates to vintage boating.
What is the magic about setting out on the water in a boat that was built entirely of wood as long ago as the early 1900’s? Or how about a classic fiberglass boat built in the 1950’s complete with fins and even headlights? Well, a word that comes to mind is “history”, followed closely by “fun”. Part of the magic is the friendships that develops by belonging to a club that encourages the restoration and use of these boats.
We look forward to seeing you at one or more of our shows and sharing with you our love of old boats. Yours in happy and safe boating Bruce Wilson President – The Okanagan Antique & Classic Boat Society.
